Your situation

Ping says it is fine, and the client says it is not

Devices that answer ping while failing
A printer with no toner, a UPS on battery and a switch with a port down all answer ping. Your monitoring says green until the client calls.
Hardware that cannot run an agent
Printers, UPSes, NAS and cameras cannot run your monitoring agent, so they sit outside everything you watch.
A client site you cannot reach
A small client on 4G or a shared-address broadband plan has no public address, so the only way in is a visit.
Too many tools, and no one view
Every client site has its own tool and its own login. Finding out which client is down right now means opening each one.

What changes

Every client's devices asked how they are, every minute

A Relayant box, or the software agent on hardware the client already has, finds the devices on the site's network and watches them.

  • Protocol checks read a device's own status over SNMP: toner, battery, port state. Every check is read-only.
  • A warning such as low toner stays visible without an alarm. A fault such as a UPS on battery raises an alert.
  • Alerts go to Microsoft Teams, Slack, email and webhooks, each with an Acknowledge button or link.
  • One site alert when a site goes down, not one per device.

What stays the same

Your ticketing. We have no ticketing integration. The portal sends a webhook that your own tools can receive.

Your clients' hardware. The software agent runs on a Linux PC, a Raspberry Pi or a router the client already owns.

Device logins. We hold no device logins. SNMP uses a read-only community or user you choose for this one purpose.

A check on every device, every minute The Relayant box sends a check to the camera, the recorder and the controller in turn. The camera and recorder answer. The controller does not, so the box checks again, and when it still does not answer an alert is sent. Relayant box Relayantbox Camera Recorder Controller A check every minute Alert sent
Every minute the box checks each device its own way, such as printers and UPSes over SNMP. A device that stops answering raises an alert.

The features that matter most

What an IT provider uses every day

Protocol checks

SNMP v1, v2c and v3 for printers, UPSes, switches and NAS, with the device's status in its own words. Needs a recent box update at the site; the portal says so.

Alerts and acknowledge links

Microsoft Teams, Slack, email and webhooks. Each channel chooses its severities, and a critical alert is repeated until it is acknowledged.

Monthly reports

A PDF per client site each month with your branding, and a portfolio summary of every site, worst first.

Teams, roles and audit

Owners, operators and viewers, two-factor sign-in, and an audit log of who changed what and when, for every client site.

How it fits

It fits what your clients already have

The client's own hardware
The software agent is the box's own software on a Linux PC, a Raspberry Pi or a router you own. One command from the portal installs it.
Or a box
For a site with nothing to run it on, a box plugs into a LAN port and takes an address by DHCP.
Your team's channels
Add a Microsoft Teams or Slack channel in the portal and choose which severities it receives.
Your own tools
A webhook carries each alert to anything that can receive one. Every alert, its message and when it was sent is kept with the site.

A day with Relayant

What an IT provider's day looks like

An example, not a customer's story.

  1. Morning

A client's UPS goes onto battery. The alert is in your team's Microsoft Teams channel with the reason in the device's words, and someone acknowledges it from the message.

  2. Mid-morning

A printer at another client reports low toner. It stays online with a warning in the portal; nobody is paged for toner.

  3. Afternoon

A client's whole site drops. You get one site alert, not one per device, and when the box reconnects the site shows online again.

  4. The first of the month

Each client's report goes out under your name, and the portfolio summary shows you every site, worst first.
