Relayant and Teltonika RMS
Teltonika RMS manages a fleet of Teltonika routers without a public address. Our router package runs beside it on the same router, for the devices behind it. Here is where each fits.
What it is good at
RMS manages the routers, and reaches computers behind them
Teltonika RMS is Teltonika's platform for remote access and management of Teltonika Networks devices and, through them, third-party devices. RMS Management covers the routers: configuration, firmware, device health and status, event alerts, automation rules, audit logs and reporting.
RMS Connect reaches non-Teltonika devices behind the router over RDP, VNC, SSH or HTTP(S), without a public address or extra software. Each new device gets a 30-day free trial of RMS Management.
Where it falls short
The router is watched; the devices behind it are not
Each of these is from Teltonika's own pages, read on 13 October 2026.
- It needs a Teltonika router at the site
- Management is of Teltonika Networks compatible devices, and access to anything else runs through one. Our box plugs into any router's LAN port. Our software agent also runs on OpenWrt routers and on Teltonika RutOS.
- Access is paid for by data used
- RMS Connect and RMS VPN are paid for by data used: the first 5 GB per company is free, then a data package or credits. Video is what uses a data allowance.
- Nothing checks the devices behind the router
- RMS's pages describe health and status of the Teltonika devices. They do not describe checking whether each camera, recorder or controller behind the router answers. Nor alarm signals to a control room, nor a per-site report covering those devices. Our box does those three things.
Side by side
Seven things a control room asks, answered for both
| The question | Relayant | Teltonika RMS |
|---|---|---|
| What it manages | The devices behind the router: found by the box, checked every minute. The router itself is not configured or updated. | Teltonika Networks devices: configuration, firmware, health and status, event alerts, audit logs, reporting.teltonika-networks.com, 13 October 2026 |
| What has to be at the site | Our box on any router's LAN port, or our software agent on a Linux PC or a router you own, including Teltonika RutOS. | A Teltonika router or gateway. Anything else is reached through it.teltonika-networks.com/products/rms, 13 October 2026 |
| Reaching a device behind the router | One standing address and port per device, for any software that connects by address and port. | RMS Connect: RDP, VNC, SSH or HTTP(S) sessions to devices behind the router, without a public address or extra software.teltonika-networks.com (10 September 2020), 13 October 2026 |
| How it is paid for | Per box at a live site. A software agent counts as a box. | RMS Management: a 30-day free trial per new device, then credits worth 30 days per device, or 6-month, 12-month, 3-, 5- or 10-year packages. RMS Connect and RMS VPN: the first 5 GB per company free. Then a 150 GB package for a device for 10 years, or credits worth 2 GB each.teltonika-networks.com/products/rms; the packages article, 13 October 2026 |
| Checking that each device answers | Every device behind the router, every minute. You are told when one stops answering. | Device health and status monitoring is for the Teltonika devices. Per-device checks of the devices behind the router are not described.teltonika-networks.com, 13 October 2026 |
| Alarm signals to the control room | Into your monitoring software over SIA DC-09, as supplementary fault signalling. | Not described on the pages checked. The three pages above, 13 October 2026 |
| A monthly report per site | A PDF per site on the first of the month, covering the devices at the site. | RMS Management reporting covers the Teltonika devices. A per-site report of the devices behind them is not described. The three pages above, 13 October 2026 |
"Not described" means exactly that: the vendor's pages, read on the date shown, do not mention it. It does not mean the product cannot do it.
About alarm signals
Our alarm signals are supplementary fault signals. They tell your control room that a device has stopped answering, has a fault, or that a site’s network is down. They do not replace the alarm panel’s own communicator.
When to choose it anyway
A fleet of Teltonika routers, where the job is the routers
Choose Teltonika RMS when you run a fleet of Teltonika routers and the job is the routers. That job is firmware, configuration, SIM and signal, and an audit trail of who changed what. Add the occasional remote desktop or web session to a computer behind one. RMS is made for that, and we do none of it: our software does not configure, update or back up a router.
Where a site has a Teltonika router, run both. RMS looks after the router. Our router package, or our box, looks after the devices behind it. Each is offered at a standing address and port, checked every minute, with faults sent to the control room. The package adds one WireGuard interface and one firewall zone of its own. It does not change the LAN, WAN, DHCP, DNS, Wi-Fi or any existing firewall rule, does not flash firmware, and does not touch RMS.
Running the package on a Teltonika router needs about 9 MB of free flash and 128 MB of RAM. The RUTX series has it; the RUT241 and RUT950 class does not. The Teltonika installation steps have not yet been checked on a real router; the software agent guide says so.
